Dignity
and Grace
As
the crowd frequently applauded, this young man with autism covered
his ears, in obvious discomfort. His
father, at his side, helped him maintain his composure.
Sensory
dysfunction is a common hallmark of autism. It can make an ordinary
sound like clapping seem like the roar of a freight train, to a
person with autism.
For
a father, who has endured the challenges of autism for years, this
must have been a rewarding day.
